Look I know that we’re almost a month out from Days of the Dead now, but we’ve got nothing else to do for a few months so why not keep this party going for another week? And I’m not just trying to drag this out with a bunch of crap either. I’m giving you audio of a Malcolm McDowell before I finally lay this thing to rest. Pun intended. You know him, you love him, you might even be a little unnerved by him. It’s Ray Wise! Continue reading “Repost: Days of the Dead Ray Wise Panel”
You should all know by now that I love horror movies, and spooky stuff in general. Several years ago Sharron and I got day passes to go to Days of the Dead just for Saturday. It was fairly small, inexpensive, and relatively quiet. I had a good enough time that I’ve been wanting to do it again. Since my horror buddy was out of town the last few times it happened, and Mr. Tibbs isn’t usually one for crowds, I haven’t been back until this year. It’s changed a lot since 2014, and it was all for the better. Continue reading “Repost: Days of the Dead 2018”
It took some doing, but I was able to secure myself a press pass for Days of the Dead which will be taking place at the downtown Sheraton February 2-4. Actually, I got 2 passes so Mr. Tibbs will be coming too so that he can take pictures for me (I’m terrible at getting pictures of the cool stuff I see. I can take notes or take pictures. I’m not great at doing both), and he’ll allow more “divide and conquer” than I can do on my own. I may have to start doing this at Dragon Con if it works out well. Days of the Dead is a horror based convention that’s been happening every February for several years. It’s been a long time since I’ve been, but really enjoyed it, and thought I’d try my luck at getting in as press. It worked, and now I’ll be able to tell you about all the great things you missed (in case you can’t come) and things you might miss if your plans and panels don’t match up with mine. Not everyone who will be appearing has a panel so I’ll break this up into 2 parts. The people, and then the panels or events I want to see. Continue reading “Repost: Days of the Dead 2018 Preview”
Because the only reason I saw Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald in the theater was the promise of it having something to do with Dumbledore. I guess I’m a sucker since the movie was basically stuff, stuff, stuff – Dumbledore! Then stuff, stuff, stuff – oh hey, it’s Hogwarts! Followed by stuff, stuff, and more stuff – but there’s Dumbledore again! If you’ve read the books or seen all of the Harry Potter movies a billion times as I have you know that Dumbledore is famous for defeating Grindlewald (basically the Voldemort of his time). So why does the guy who wrote one of the Hogwarts textbooks get all the screen time? I didn’t hate this the way some people I know did, but I was certainly disappointed. It’s been out almost a month so I can’t imagine I’d be giving any spoilers by now, but considering that it’s the first of a two parter there isn’t much to spoil anyway. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m getting pretty impatient for the last season of Game of Thrones. There are only a few long months to wait, but I can’t seem to find any real facts about what’s coming up. The cast is keeping quiet, and they’re even filming fake scenes to keep leakers from leaking. Telling me that what’s coming will make the Battle of the Bastards seem like nothing doesn’t help. Personally, I thought Hardhome was a better fight, but I guess Peter Dinklage disagrees. Maybe I only prefer Hardhome because it looks like what would happen if the cover of a metal album came to life. Regardless, I can’t stand all this waiting without even a hint of what I’m waiting for. So in the face of no facts I thought I’d bring you some hardcore nerd conjecture. The only real spoilers are for a book that isn’t (and may never be) out yet. Either you’re already up to speed or you only watch the show and don’t care about the books. I’m in an abusive relationship with The Walking Dead. No matter how many times it hurts me I just keep coming back. I guess the same could be said for AMC though since their latest ratings stunt really was a big old middle finger to the people who have been watching this show since the beginning. Yeah you may have put one over on me, but I’ll have a hard time trusting you again. So don’t expect me to care when you start plugging Daryl’s departure or the death of Negan or something.
I’ll admit that I was kind of okay with how the season started. It was still pretty slow, but things got just a little bit more interesting than they’d been the last few seasons. Maggie is executing people, Michonne is sneaking out at night to kill zombies, and there are a ton a Saviors around still just waiting to die. It wasn’t great, but neither was it endless hours of crying and gesticulating. I don’t care about all the different groups trying to learn to live together any more than I care about how Rick and Michonne are raising Judith. There’s been a herd on the move, and we finally get to see the survivors dealing with zombies again. I’m gonna throw out some spoilers here so be warned. I’m not going to go over the whole episode or even give a blow by blow of how he went out, but we will talk about what happened at the end. Continue reading “The Death of Rick Grimes…or Not”
